Steve Oliver was born in Manchester, England in 1981. He received his MA in Fine Art with distinction from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2015. He teaches in the School of Arts and Media at the University of Salford.
Steve's work investigates the structures that make photography and video ‘work’. They are made exclusively in-computer, with material sourced from internet searches. They have been referred to as having the partial structure of memories.
He has exhibited widely, showing work across the UK, Europe and the United States. His broad research interests embrace cinema, literary fiction and technological simulation. Steve is always trying to seduce an audience into wanting to do the hard work of looking critically.
He works out of Rogue Artist Studios CIC.
